It has taken less than two years for Last Slice Pizza to become an institution for the pizza lovers of Bunbury.

Since opening the doors to their New York style pizzeria in August 2019, owners Jeremy Doble and Casey Teede and their team have been serving up some seriously tasty pizzas and a vibe to boot.

The success and popularity of their Victoria Street shop is so much so, that the bright neon pizza slice sign that has become synonymous with the eatery will take up its new position across the street as part of expansion plans.

That’s right, the Last Slice team will now be slicing it up in a new, stylishly decked-out restaurant and sports bar smack bang at the entry to the City’s CBD on the corner of Clifton and Casuarina streets.

While the uber cosy store nestled in the corner of Bunbury’s cinema complex served its purpose, it would come as no surprise to the pizza shop’s legion of fans that it was time to go big.

“We saw a big hole in the family restaurant market in Bunbury,” co-owner Jeremy Doble said.

“While the current Last Slice store is great, it is largely take-away and quite a bit smaller.

We wanted to give even more opportunity and incentive for people to visit, dine in and become more of a destination for a great day.

The team will still be serving up mouth-watering pizza, inspired by downtown New York and in true Yankee fashion available in various sizes including an ambitious 22”.

The boys’ aspirations to be a “destination” restaurant should be easy enough, thanks largely to their neighbours in Timezone Bunbury and being situated in a fast-growing entertainment precinct.

The new venue is cleverly fit out with a family-friendly vibe at the forefront, including kids play area and a heap of alfresco space.

But tapping into the sports bar market could be their smartest move since adding Pizza of the Month special, Sausage Fest, to their permanent menu.

“Being a hospitality venue, first and foremost we hope the customers go away saying the food and service was awesome,” Jeremy says.

"Aside from that, we want people to enjoy their experience and not want to leave."

"Whether it is a family occasion with the kids or a group of friends watching their favourite sport, we want everyone to feel welcome and love the great value offering we will have."

Being Bunbury locals, the two mates have been living the dream since opening Last Slice together and largely credit the opportunities and lifestyle Bunbury offers, along with the “awesome” community that has supported them, for their success.

“Bunbury offers a good work-life balance,” Jeremy said.

"There is a great sports culture, lovely beaches, the nightlife and hospitality offerings are getting better all the time – the list goes on."

“Our cost of living is low for how great a place Bunbury is, and we continue to grow, which opens up many more opportunities for small business to open and flourish.

"The future is bright."

Last Slice Pizza will continue to operate out of its current premises until opening the new venue.
